What is SNARL?

SNARL is a ‘zine, which is short for magazine. Back in the day, ‘zines were photocopied and published to be sold and traded at punk shows and other underground scenes. Our ‘zine is a yearly publication which includes a standalone microgame and a few add-ons for some of our previous titles. It’s only available in PDF, but it’s formatted so you can print a cool little booklet if you want, and relive your punk rock youth - or start a new one.

Every few years, or months, or days – it varies, a goblin gathers enough of his kin to become a Great Gobin. When that happens, it’s time for The Great Goblin Argle-Bargle to begin! Goblins come from all around to join the argle-bargle, searching under every nook and cranny in an attempt to find more goblins. They sing goblin songs, dance goblin dances and engage in all sorts of goblin shenanigans. Of course, only one great goblin can become the greatest goblin, so some punching and stabbing also usually ensues. The Great Goblin Argle-Bargle is a chaotic, party game for two to four players.

Also in this issue, there is a new adventure for players of Reign in Hell. Reign in Hell: The Broken Door is a new mini solo or co-op campaign that continues the story from The Oculus Spear (our previous expansion). Your cabal is on the trail in hell for ancient secrets that may help them reopen the portal to Earth and escape the wastelands of hell. This expansion consists of three linked adventures for one or two players.

SNARL 2024 also contains new content for MAJESTIC 13. The forms have all been filled out and the red tape has been cut, meaning fresh new tech has been delivered to the teams of MAJESTIC 13. This expansion gives your teams new gear to select to help them on their dangerous mission to destroy the alien menace.

Finally, for Deth Wizards, the Necromancers have been hard at work in their secret laboratories, and they have unleashed new minions upon their enemies. This expansion contains four new Necromantic Minions for your Necromancer to raise, create or summon – including the new Arisen Wolf, the first non-humanoid Necromantic Minion.

There was a concern, during the first nuclear test in July of 1945, that the explosion might set the planet’s atmosphere on fire. Luckily, for us it didn’t. But in the world of our first microgame “Tanks” for the Apocalypse, it did. As a lucky (or perhaps unlucky?) survivor - you’ve gotten ahold of an M4 Sherman from the Lima Locomotive Works in Ohio - no longer destined for the front lines of WWII - and now you’re terrorizing the other survivors in the American Midwest. And then, you meet another tank that had the same idea. A quick and fun tank combat game for two to ten players.

Also in this issue, there’s a new philosophy in Hell, and they’re bringing the denizens of this place together to take over the realm through rituals, traditions – and faith. Hell hasn’t seen anything like this in a long time. Check out the new philosophy in Reign in Hell: The Reckoning, an add-on faction and two new scenarios for our first published game.

Lastly, the structure of Space Station Zero is vast, ancient, and mostly unknown. However, new equipment has been found, and you can outfit your team with advanced technology, gear, and weapons. All that and more are found in Space Station Zero: New Discoveries, add-on gear for our sophomore release.
