Where to Get Your Shermans

Hey everyone, it's Adam again. Vince and I are glad to get this first issue of SNARL in front of you, and we're really proud of our first microgame: "Tanks" for the Apocalypse. In this game, you blast across the post-apocalyptic American Midwest in an M4 Sherman tank liberated from the Lima Locomotive Works in Ohio and fight against other M4 Shermans stolen from the same factory. So it's tank-on-tank violence - but where should you get your tank model from?

We're looking for M4 Shermans in 28mm scale, which frankly are plentiful. Games like Bolt Action feature Sherman tanks greatly, and U.S. military tank designs from World War II aren't something that can be copyrighted technically, so multiple companies produce great kits for our use. Here are a few I was able to find online:

Rubicon Models

Gaddis Gaming

I'm sure that there's also five or ten TIMES as many 3D STL files for Sherman tanks out there on the Internet. Check MyMiniFactory.com, Cults3D.com, and possibly even Thingiverse.com to find the right Sherman for you.

Once you find the right model kit, then you’ll want to properly “apocalypse” it up. This can be simply via a non-military paint job and some bullet holes, but you can also add stowage to your vehicle (look up “tank stowage” online for inspiration, or search for “28mm tank stowage” for kits and STLs) to make it look lived-in. Or, you can go completely nuts with your tank and make “apocalypse” men whatever you want. The end of the world is your oyster.
